Bristol's accomplished chamber choir with its newly-formed vibrant chamber orchestra of outstanding professional musicians perform Mozart's 'Great' Mass in C Minor, a work packed with virtuosic solo and choral writing that richly deserves its place as one of the best-loved works of the choral repertoire.

The piece is teamed with two American choral symphonies with beautiful writing both for the voices and accompanying orchestra. Morten Lauridsen is best-known for his O Magnum Mysterium, and his Midwinter Songs offer an extended work exploring his beautiful sound world. The five movement work of soaring lyricism set deeply moving words by Robert Graves.
John Corigliano's music is very accessible, a combination of pastoral music reminiscent of the English composer Finzi, with Aaron Copland's unmistakeable American accent. Fern Hill sets the words of Dylan Thomas. The music is distinctively American, tuneful and romantic, full of colour and expression.
'Mhairi Lawson's singing surely brings a taste of the kind of visceral thrill the star singers of the day were able to offer their audiences.' GRAMOPHONE
'The soprano Rebecca Outram has a truly phenomenal voice. It was as if we were in heaven on an unrepeatable journey to the transcendental.' VOX POTUCALENSE
